Fertility and TCM

Infertility is considered an inability to conceive after trying for over one year. About over 9% of the couples globally are facing problems with infertility. 20% of the cases are due to both male and female factors. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) infertility occurs due to an imbalance in the body, blockages in the Qi energy (human bioenergetics system) and blood circulation flow.

Treatments plans using acupuncture and herbs are used. The acupuncture session lasts about an hour . It is recommended that the treatment be held minimum once a week for three month cycle, both for the mother and father to be.

Acupuncture as a treatment for infertility shows great results both in men and women. It can be considered as a successful treatment, by improving the sperm quality and ovaries function, balancing the endocrine system and hormones.

Should you already be on the path of IVF, many patients try to seek acupuncture to improve in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. It is argued that Luteal-phase acupuncture has a positive effect on the outcome of IVF/ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection). Plus research maintains that, the effect of acupuncture on the pregnancy rate is improved in assisted reproduction therapy (ART), receiving acupuncture treatment shortly before and after embryo transfer helps.
